Power of Attorney Management
Objective
Automated generation and management of powers of attorney (POA) and substitutions for judicial disputes, negotiations, administrative proceedings, and routine organizational operations. POAs can be specific to a particular case or general for representing an individual or entity in some capacity.
Each organization can view and manage its active POAs by case and client (grantor), renewing, substituting, or revoking them at any time. The history of granted powers and representation chains can be accessed through intuitive dashboards.
Our Client
Any organization with a Looplex account can use this automation solution to manage its own POAs and substitutions (e.g., ad judicia POAs for law firms or legal departments and supplier/consultancy POAs). It can also manage client POAs, whether for a group of companies served by the legal department or corporate clients of a law firm.
What Is a Power of Attorney (POA)?
A Power of Attorney (POA) refers to a legal authorization enabling one or more designated persons, called attorneys-in-fact, to act on behalf of another person, called the grantor. A POA allows the attorney-in-fact to have broad or limited authority over decisions related to property, finances, investments, corporate management, or legal defense of the grantor’s interests.
Grantor’s Legal Representatives
You can automatically retrieve the complete qualification of the grantor, including the legal representatives who will sign on behalf of a corporate grantor, from client contact data via API or manually for an independent POA.
From there, all POAs linked to a client entity in your legal department or law firm can be managed on the platform.
Playbook for POA Templates
Use models configured as legal playbooks to streamline the generation and updating of POAs, adapt quickly to organizational changes, and standardize governance and control flows.
- Template Filters by Case Type: Specify whether the model is universal for all cases or applies only to a specific type, such as ad judicia POAs for litigation cases.
- Creation of Power Collections: Models enable forming power collections, offering flexibility in customizing authorizations granted to different attorney groups. Specify whether powers are case-specific or general.
- Management of Attorney Groups: Configure specific user groups eligible as attorneys and the collections of powers each group can receive, based on organizational criteria.
- Substitution: Define whether the POA allows substitution, with or without reservations.
- Duration: POAs can be time-specific or indefinite, depending on the authorization’s nature and context. Indicate the applicable duration for each template.
POA Management
Track all granted POAs in standardized Looplex dashboards, visualizing the chain of attorneys (attorneys-in-fact and substitutes), active attorneys for a case, POA validity monitoring, and lifecycle management for renewals and revocations.
Looplex Templates
Looplex provides pre-configured content templates to accelerate setup and usage. You’ll find suggested collections of powers, policies for organizing attorney groups, and other ready-made settings, all customizable to your needs.
Additionally, you will have access to ready-to-use private POA templates tailored for your cases.
How to Start?
Create the Playbook: Navigate to the settings section in the Looplex administrative module to create or edit your POA playbook templates.
Associate with a Template: Link the playbook model to a document template rendered with the playbook and specific case information. You can use ready-made Looplex templates.
Disclaimers
Automated POA management assumes one grantor per POA. You can create POA templates that include multiple grantors; however, the control and visualization of the POA chain will be centered on the case client, considered the “key grantor” of the mandate.
