Custom Fields

Custom fields allow for more specialized organization, classification, and filtering to help users better access content based on different variables beyond the standard fields and filters provided by default on the Looplex Platform. Broadly speaking, custom fields allow you to better map, store, and reason with your legal data.

It may be that you have a wide array of kinds of content and topics stored on your cases and/or document templates.

Custom fields allow you to specify with greater accuracy the various categories and formats this content comes in. Your custom fields will better enable your users to automate legal reasoning and store case related information for a specific field of expertise or for a given client or group of clients.

Custom fields can be defined using meta tags in your legal playbooks. Among other data types, custom fields support dates, integers, keywords, and text. You can read more about defining custom fields here. Once defined, your custom fields can be used in filtering and sorting search results.

Case custom fields

You can define custom fields related to cases in Looplex Cases. It can be categorized as supplemental data applicable to (a) all of your organization’s cases; (b) to specific types of cases (e.g., fields that only appear in litigation cases in State Court, or that only appear in Contract advisory cases); or (c) data applicable to specific customers, with custom fields that are applicable only to an entity served or represented by your legal team.

You can also sort custom fields so that they take priority over other elements in the index. This way, you can set the order in which they appear in the interface or in custom system reports.

Document custom fields

You can also define custom fields in automated document templates. All non-standard logic, or logic that extends the pre-configured elements of a component of Looplex legal logic library becomes “custom fields”. Custom document fields are typically mapped with the support of our legal knowledge engineering team.

You can connect the custom fields of a case to a document template, so that the document generation process can receive the values of that field inserted in the case; or vice versa, with the result of generating a document by adding information in the custom field of the respective case to which it belongs.
